[a shrug.]

I know I can't help all of them, but I want to, somehow. [but there's a problem with that.] And I know we should be focusing on the competition and gathering nova, whenever the Leaders tell us how to do it, but there should still be something good waiting for people when they return.

[evocationary]

[ she brings a hand up to ruffle his hair, gently. ]

Annnd you know you're not responsible if they don't have something good waiting for them, right? You know that.

[reconnective]

[hair ruffles...he settles for tipping his head into her hand.]

Yeah, I know. ["but it's still sad to think about." he doesn't voice the sentiment out loud, but it's out there. there's another beat of silence though and something seems to change.]

...back home, you could see the stars for practically forever.

[ well, maybe she'll just pet his hair, then. it's so fluffy. it's surprising how easy this is - she knows part of it is the weird... urge, thing that she's been trying to ignore, but another part of it is just that she doesn't mind it when it's sora. ]

On the island you lived on?

[reconnective]

[it's so fluffy? and soft? it's also a nice way to learn that sora's hair is just naturally stupidly spiky. the whole affection thing is happening, but simultaneously sora's sort of ignoring it because it feels just about the same as ever. he's a little more giving with his affection now, but for someone who usually gives it away he's not bothered. it's why he continues leaning against her and letting her pet his hair while he stares at half a cinnamon roll and blinks at the stars for a moment.]

Yeah. When we were kids, sometimes Riku and I would sit on the beach outside our houses just to look at all of 'em. We probably tried counting them thousands of times but we always lost track. [that...was forever ago now.] This sort of reminds me of that, except this place has way more constellations. Kind of like the things we'd see while traveling between worlds.

[he. does not remember if he ever specified to lup how he did the world-hopping thing, but oh well. spaceships.]

Taako and I did the same thing. [ she tilts her head back to look up at the stars, thinking. ]

The constellations here are a mash-up. We have some from every world, it seems like. [ a pause. ] Wait, did you actually go through space to get from world to world?

[ even if he did it would not be hard to imagine that lup just totally didn't listen the first time. ]

[reconnective]

There's a ton I don't recognize, so that makes sense. [but he nods.] We have a vessel called a gummi ship that we use to travel between the worlds. A lot of the time we have to find the way ourselves, so we fly past all kinds of stars and meteors and stuff while fighting Heartless that're out there.

[evocationary]

Gummi ship. [ that's ridiculous, says a member of the starblaster. ] The Heartless? I just have more questions.

[reconnective]

Yup. Donald and Goofy were traveling on it first when they were looking for the Keyblade, and when they found me they invited me to go with them. [is it lore dump time? it's "ty has to cry in kingdom hearts lore" time.]

The Heartless are these monsters...they're born from the darkness in people's hearts. If a heart's consumed by the Darkness, a Heartless is born and what's left behind makes up a Nobody. Then the Heartless continue to multiply because they consume other hearts.

A lot of worlds were being attacked by the Heartless who wanted to destroy the heart of each world. So. That's where we came in. The Keyblade's a weapon that can be used to fight back against the Darkness.

[evocationary]

[ rip ty ]

That... that is the corniest thing I've ever heard. [ oh my god. a heart consumed by darkness? a nobody? who came up with these terms. i say, like the big bad of her campaign isn't named what it is. listen. ]

And how can you tell if someone is heartless?

[reconnective]

[given he doesn't reply right away he's not sure what to say about it, apparently, being corny.]

They don't really look like people anymore most of the time. [first of all.] And it's not corny, it's true.

[evocationary]

Corny and true are not mutually exclusive, bud. [ she is still fluffing his hair. ] Whatever. I -- I, we...

[ she starts, and then stops, and goes quiet. and very carefully angles her face away from sora. ]

[reconnective]

[well whatever he was initially sad about goes on the backburner as he turns his head to face her.]

Lup? What is it?

[evocationary]

Uh, static. [ she says, dismissively. ] Don't worry about it.

[reconnective]

Huh? [NO HE'S WORRIED ABOUT IT. he's also sitting up on his knees a little to try and get a better look at her.] What static? What do you mean?

[evocationary]

[ AAAA NO DON'T LOOK AT HER she immediately tries to push his face away!! ]

Nothing! Just a roadblock. I guess I flew too close to the sun, there, for a second.

[reconnective]

[he just uses both hands to grab both of lup's cheeks to squish them and hold her head still.]

That doesn't make any sense, come on.

[evocationary]

[ aaaaaaaaaa she wrinkles her nose and turns her gaze elsewhere, but she doesn't try to move. ]

I - I forgot. [ she says, firmly. no wavering. it's. fine. ] I forgot something.

[reconnective]

[well that's not good.]

Are you sure? What do you think you forgot?

[evocationary]

People. [ she says, rubbing at her arm. ] I know because Taako told me.

[reconnective]

[oh. somehow that's worse.]

Really important people?

[evocationary]

I - ahah, I think so. [ she says this a little helplessly. ] We had a spaceship too. Not that I can remember the we part of that equation.

[reconnective]

But...you remember being with them, don't you? And that you guys were friends. [right?]

[evocationary]

[ an uncomfortable shift. ]

I remember there were people on the ship with me.

[reconnective]

Does Taako remember all of them? [i just remembered he's still holding onto her face. that's going to continue, but like less.]
