Oh. That's it? [he shakes his head.] Your memories are still yours, Lup. Even if you're sharing them with me. It's not like you're sharing mine with people either.
[...but.] Thanks for telling me, by the way. I could tell you something if you want in exchange?
[ that's it, he says, like it was that easy. she just - laughs, scrubbing at her face. she... trusts him enough to know that he's not going to use it against her. it's a weird relief. ]
You do whatever you want, dude. [ she adjusts her robes. ] I'll listen, though.
Okay. [give him a moment to approach the panel, reading through the instructions and trying to get a grip on how the whole thing works. with that though, he'll open the door again and step inside, closing the door a bit behind him just so the room has time to really read his thoughts.
...then, after a few moments.]
...I think you can come in now!
[when she does step in, she'll find herself standing on the beach of an island. it's not as large as he wants it to be and it seems to stop at the face of the cliff, veering off toward the left to the smaller island with the long curved tree, but he's grinning widely as he lifts both hands to show it off.] Tada!
[ his big grin makes her grin, as she walks in. she has almost a sense of... nostalgia, when she sees the beach, and for a moment, her whole expression softens. ]
Wow. [ she says, rolling her robe sleeves up. ] Is this your island?
Yeah. Well...it's the play island. The main island's that way. [he points ahead where there's just ocean and what probably indicates a ways across from them. it's a very basic simulation, but he remembers it vividly enough it's almost easy to picture the gentle breeze and the warm sunshine over the calm waves.] The touchpad thing said it'd pick up stuff from our heads, so I wanted to try.
[50% because he misses home and 50% because he knows how peaceful his island is and it's to help calm her down after earlier.]
[ it is definitely a calming place, and it makes her sort of desperately miss something she isn't quite sure she remembers fully. she takes a deep breath, and the sunshine and the waves makes it easy for her to imagine the smell of ocean air.
she reaches up and pulls her hair down out of the ponytail it's in, and digs her feet into the sand. ]
You grew up here. [ she says, absently. ] You know, that makes a lot of sense.
More like my whole life. [you know. until recently. he doesn't mind the teasing because he also makes fun of himself, sometimes, for being an islander through and through. there's something in his face that's relaxed and maybe just a little sad, but he doesn't shy away from it.]
See that part over there? [he points to the small part of the island toward their left, the piece attached via a bridge as it sticks out into the water.] We used to spend a lot of time sitting on that tree watching the sun set. The three of us. Riku spent the most time there though. That's where we sparred a lot, too.
[he points toward the left and back around the part of the island he couldn't generate because it's too large.] There's this obstacle course around the other side of the island that we built. Sometimes we'd have races across the beach and Kairi would always have to judge who the winner was. There're some caves back there, too, but they don't have anything interesting except mushrooms. Not like the Secret Place.
[which is behind them, given how he points toward a space by a natural waterwall in the face of the rocks behind them.] ...Riku, Kairi and I have been coming to this island since we were really little. It doesn't feel right to stop just because a lot of things have changed.
[ she listens easily enough, watching him explain what his life was like. her expression is soft, and maybe a little envious. it sounds nice. idealistic. the kind of childhood kids should have. ]
Seems like a place full of memories. [ she says, glancing at him. ] You really do love the two of them, don't you.
...I know the worlds needed our help, and that I had a responsibility as a Keyblade wielder. And I know that if we didn't stop Xehanort and if we didn't help all of those people, everything would have gone wrong. [a beat.] But all I ever wanted to do was get all of us home again. They mean everything to me.
...thanks. [he doesn't think he has to specify that he won't let her forget taako or anything because to him it's obvious. he'll do whatever it takes to make sure she remembers the most important things.
it's the better route.
there's a lingering bit of silence then as he seems to think of what to say next.]
...I don't want them to forget about me either. [he's confident that they won't because the three of them have always been connected, but it's more of an idle thought than anything.]
Yeah. I know that's true, even if other people don't believe it. Sometimes...the heart's weak, but it never gives up on the things that really matter. It's why I'm sure you and Taako could never really forget each other.

I'll stay back when you mess with it. As long as it's not trying to read my mind, it's fine.

[ it's a little bit teasing, but. ] The ocean wears off all the rough parts.
