[he enters the kitchen not long after the trial with a huge frown on his face. he's not entirely surprised to see that someone else is already there, but it means he's approaching lup where she's at while wordlessly grabbing a pan and some ingredients.]

How did this happen?

[evocationary]

[ she's already in the process of making some sort of dough, hair in a bun, expression tight. sora's voice gets her to look up, and she sighs. ]

It happened because we had nothing else to go on.

[reconnective]

[he looks pretty frustrated, to say the least, so he's busy prepping something that looks like beef.]

Kano shouldn't have to die just because people wanted an easy vote. That's not fair.

[evocationary]

[ oof oof oof she's just gonna busy herself with this dough. ]

Well, I don't know what to tell you. Life's not fair.

[reconnective]

Yeah, I keep hearing that. [give him a moment to silently just beat the shit out of this beef to start cooking it.]

...are we really just bad at this?

[evocationary]

[ she's quiet as well, and then: ]

Maybe. It's not like we, uh - we have a whole lot of crime solving experience. We'll get better at it, I'm willing to bet.

[reconnective]

...but is that any better if the only way we'll get better is having more people die?

[evocationary]

Nope. [ she pops the p. ] It's not ideal, but it's going to happen again - there's no way it won't.

[reconnective]

I'm going to talk to the leaders tomorrow and find out if this was another case of somebody being asked to do this. If that's really what's happening...maybe we can find a lead to stop it before it gets worse.

[evocationary]

[ she nods. ] I was gonna do the same thing. I'll ask mine and get back to you.

[ ... ] You gonna talk to him tonight? Kano, I mean.

[reconnective]

[there's a slight smile.] Was it obvious? Even if he doesn't want it, I'm gonna take this to him. [he nods toward the pan.]

[evocationary]

He's gonna dodge you. I wouldn't want to talk to a bunch of people that sentenced me to death either.

[reconnective]

I don't care. He dodges me a lot anyway and that hasn't stopped me before. Even if he thinks it's stupid, or even if he ignores it, I have to go. I want to try to understand.

[evocationary]

[ she's mostly given up on trying to understand how sora does it. ]

Well, let me know if you understand at any point, because I don't have the patience.

[reconnective]

Yeah, I know. But I guess...[...] ...you not having patience is kind of a good thing, sometimes.

[evocationary]

[ okay, she looks amused at that ]

You live a hundred, two hundred years, and your tolerance for bullshit goes way down. I'm pretty done with letting things slide.

[reconnective]

[lup is so old...wow....so wise...]

I don't think I could have helped my friends if I didn't try everything to understand them. [...] Especially Roxas. Even if things didn't make sense, the only thing I could do was try to understand how he felt in order to help him.

[he's focusing on his work though.] But I also get that we don't always have time for that here. Not with the way things are going.

Well, that's why we have multiple people here. Teamwork or whatever. Rah rah. [ she's making her stuff, too. ] You can kill them with kindness and I'll just have someone shake them upside down until all their valuables come out.

[reconnective]

Being a bully suits you better anyway. [he says this with literally all of the affection in the world.]

Besides. We know nova's attracted to strong emotions. So maybe if they're strong positive ones, we can change something.

[...but he doesn't sound like he entirely believes it.]

[ WOW THAT'S SO RUDE, SORA she looks utterly delighted by the fact that he kind of roasts her though ]

Do not make me be the optimistic one, Sora. [ she says, mildly. but she uses his name, so. ] I'm not good at it. You have to carry all that hope for me.

[reconnective]

[it's a sign of being comfortable that he can, so congrats lup.]

You're gonna think this is lame, but I'm saying it anyway. [he sets the meat to cook, turning around to lean against the counter and face her.]

...before we set off on our last journey, when we were trying to find answers to get my powers back and stop Xehanort, Master Yen Sid said something really important. "May your heart be your guiding key." Or...Goofy said it, I guess, but he said that it came from Master Yen Sid. Others have said it, too. It means trusting my heart to show us the way we need to go. And I have.

No matter what we faced or how many foes we fought, I had to remember that. Hope is light, and as long as light remains the darkness can't win.

I'll carry hope for as long as it takes. For everybody.

[evocationary]

Well, you're right, I do think it's lame.

[ she says, but her voice is light. she pauses in her baking endeavors, and wipes her hands off on her robes. and then offers them out to him. c'mere. ]

But, uh. The most important thing we have is hope. So. Lame as it is, you're not wrong.

[reconnective]

[he knows. he has grown used to lup thinking everything's lame but he takes no offense to it. instead he pushes himself away from the counter to moves closer to kind of grab her hands and also lean into her a little.]

I know. [he sounds so cheeky about it, too.] Now we've just gotta make sure it's enough for everybody else.

[evocationary]

[ he moves closer, which is good because she's just gonna hug him! for reals this time. no noogies. ]

Sounds like a tall task, but hey. Not like I have anything better to do.

[reconnective]

[successsss he will take a hug thank you!! even if it's a little tighter than usual because haha today was still terrible.]

Good. [he sort of stays there for a second just letting himself Exist before he pauses in thought.]

...I think I fell asleep before I really gave you an answer, but I would trust you with my team.
