Sumire told me, too. [he frowns in thought.] I'd say it was a distraction, too, but...think about the people who've been cursed before now. Izumo and Claude were affected by things during the week Cater, Sharon and Kano died. And then last week it was you and Claude and someone else, plus Izumo's weird dream.
Is it possible maybe that this wasn't the first week Shima had to make a choice like that?
[ Does not openly acknowledge that Claude was affected previously, because a mans keeps a promise when he makes one. ]
it's possible. i wouldn't discount it. especially if he didn't know in advance what the choice would be.
and his behavior with zuko was strange all of saturday. i'd been keeping an eye on them. side effect of a choice, or another curse of some kind? do we know if shima was different the week cater, sharon, and kano died?
I don't think so. I'm pretty sure Shima was the same as he's always been, but I wouldn't doubt someone else picked something to use against him last week. Either that, or Laine had something to curse him before he died. We might never know.
I chose Claude and Izumo. I tried to keep an eye on them that week because the message came completely out of nowhere, and the way it deleted itself after seemed ... concerning.
But I wouldn't know about any of the rest of that. I haven't received the message again.
...I suspected that someone was using some sort of power or something, but maybe they're doing it on their leader's behalf. Someone's sending mysterious messages to make someone else pick their choices. Was it on a Monday, too? What'd you pick?
Dictionary-thesaurus. It seemed likely to be the least disruptive of the three, [ imagine if red roses was a love arrow ] and ... I was hoping a little that whoever I picked would have at least learned something useful.
Swan says they didn't know anything about it until I brought it to their attention.
I was responsible for something during the first week, though I have no idea what. Red rose, dictionary/thesaurus, and cool off aren't particularly indicative phrases.
they aren't. i suppose you could try and run through symbolism and typical meanings, but the realm will crash down around our heads if we focus too much on that.

[ Interesting that she was advised to not talk about it like that, but Hua Cheng will take a stab in the dark for the hypothetical. ]
distraction, maybe. neither of us thought it was strange that we hated each other until it had been broken or wore off.

perhaps they were afflicted with the "red rose" option. they seemed to be close, during kano's execution.
