[sometimes you realize you should look beyond the town itself for answers, and that's the main reason sora ventures into the forest toward the south after getting to know the area. the castle in the distance had gone unnoticed the first time, but the second time...it was worth a closer look if he could get there. castles usually have answers and maybe...maybe his friends would be there. the king. someone.
he enters the forest alone, walking with all the ease of someone who doesn't mind long journeys and he's taking his time to look at the flowers and some of the critters scurrying around.
as he walks though, he'll find a larger critter sitting under a tree. and by critter we mean a person. it's enough to make him stop and he pauses in his steps, giving emet a questioning look.]
[well. this person's eyes remain closed, and he doesn't actually bother to answer... maybe he's asleep? unconscious?
internally he has decided to see if this child will just- go away, if he isn't offered immediate gratification. it'll be good to know for the future, and he would much prefer for that to be the case, anyway.]
[is he dead? hm. for the most part sora studies this figure carefully like he's trying to decide if this is a normal thing or a bad thing. unfortunately for emet, he doesn't leave right away as he had hoped.
instead....he uses the toe of his sneaker to lightly push at emet's foot. hello? sir????]
[after the info-bomb dropped by their lovely hosts, sora finds himself exploring town once more, lingering in places with people and exploring those without. it was a lot of information to take in all at once, and while he has his fair share of concerns he's doing his best to stay calm and think it through.
as he approaches the train station, he's not as surprised as he should be to see emet there. it's an empty station and it's a massive improvement from the forest, at least, but he does stop after jumping the turnstile and pauses to give him a once-over.]
[it's more accidental than anything that he finds emet-selch, but like most times when sora tempts fate he finds himself approaching the man with some degree of seriousness in his expression.]
Morning. Did you see the message from earlier? About Hajime.
[it's getting a little tiring to walk in circles, but sora doesn't seem like he plans on stopping anytime soon. as he enters the forest and brushes past some trees on the trail, he finds himself bypassing someone familiar.
emet-selch is going to have to deal with sora whether he likes it or not, he seems.]
I was kind of looking for you. Figured you might be somewhere like this.
[where is rat grandpa!!! sora is off on a hunt to find him even if he's moving a little slower than usual, but he won't stop until he find him. WHERE ARE YOU EMET-SELCH!!!
regardless, whenever he does find him sora comes to a stop nearby and pauses in his steps. he doesn't wave, exactly, but he makes it clear he came here on purpose. please ignore the part where he's in his pajamas (a t-shirt and shorts) and has bandages on his ankles and on his right arm.]
[emet-selch is-- wandering, more or less. a little aimless, a little just for the sake of walking around; he stops when he comes to the river and finds sora, though, pausing there for a moment to decide whether he wants to keep on moving.
[the river is not the ocean, but sometimes being next to a source of water is oddly comforting. he doesn't seem to hear the footsteps behind him (or perhaps he's not really paying attention) but the words get him to turn his head just enough.]
Figured everybody could use the break for a little while. [himself included.] Surprised to see you out here instead of in the forest somewhere.
[the fort feels familiar in its own way, but sora doesn't seem to pay much mind to that and focuses more on exploring the area. he makes his way through and soon finds himself at the top, looking out over the town itself.
but like most times, he finds that he's not as alone as he thinks. his boots don't make too much sound as he crosses the rooftop, stepping up beside emet-selch. he's not quite in his emotional range just yet, but he does glance over at him.]
[sora hasn't exactly left the area across the bridge, so even after their adventures with dinosaurs he finds himself wandering the village and browsing on his own. this is how he comes across the shop and the wall of kigus, eyeing them curiously before his gaze drifts and lands on someone else entirely.]
[at some point during emet's stay in gay baby jail, sora will come by with a tray of what looks like some beef dish and a tiny cup of chocolate mousse. he sets it on the ground before he sits next to it outside of the barrier, looking at him quietly.]
I wasn't sure if you'd like this, or if you could even taste it still, but...figured it couldn't hurt.
[as he may have guessed, sora will seek out emet-selch later when most people have surely had their fill of questions and answers. he doesn't make a bit deal out of it, but rather his approach is casual as he stops before him.]
[because it's funnier to do this when, presumably, his love-arrow-mandated bf is a frog somewhere? why ISN'T he with hansa. it's fine. emet-selch needs alone time too.
anyway, he is out and about, but when he runs into sora he stops for a moment.]
Ah, there you are. Keeping busy this week as well?
[sir, your husband? sora's out and about as well, as usual, but when emet-selch speaks up he turns and offers him a more subdued grin than usual. he's no less happy to see him though. i genuinely don't know how we got here teej.]
Sort of. But I think I'm taking the next couple of days off. Do some regrouping. That sort of thing.
[something may have happened there, but it's fine. also that'll change literally tomorrow with whatever mini-event we get.] How's your research going?
[because he's also not blind? they had books, he can read a room.]
[good morning to emet-selch and emet-selch only. that is to say, there's only one bed in these rooms which means it's likely both he and sora have been transported to be there immediately if they were asleep. it also means that, unfortunately, if emet-selch is still anywhere near the bed he will find a little creature rolling around on its back, making cute chirping noises like it's dreaming as it sleeps.
it makes sense, given that sora's still dead asleep and sprawled half on the bed and half-off, pulling the covers with him.
[it is definitely a problem! emet-selch wakes in a state of some confusion, but only partially because of the new arrangements. a pallas cat is perched on the bed, and its meowing might wake up sora or his own creature; emet-selch, for his part, is just sitting on the edge of the bed, still wearing whatever pajamas he went to sleep in, and seems to be. looking himself over in confusion. is there a mirror in here? he's inspecting himself in it, if so, brow furrowed.]
...I am certain I do not remember having the need to take such a vessel...
[more to himself, than anything, but if sora's been woken up by the cat's mrowling-- there you go.]
