and she manages to get a less traumatic memory! not what she was aiming for, but good. from 37:00 ish to 42:10. ]

[...this is actually much better than the first memory he saw of hers, and he's oddly peaceful by the time it fades. it's not hard to recognize the scenery from that picture of hers, and he remembers the name of the boy at the piano. so. it takes a few moments before he tilts his head.]

Yeah. It could have been a lot worse - that was right after I passed out in an upside-down car, swarmed with walkers.

Well. They kicked us out for a while.

But then... [ then......?? ?? ??? she is clearly not able to remember all the details here. ] Well, a lot of shit went down with another group and we've been helping them with that for a couple weeks. Once we get that resolved, we'll probably split.

I can't say I'm surprised you're gonna be on the move again. [and speaking of moves, he'll move to start pouring batter into a cake pan and also a cupcake tray.] ...kind of sad though. Some of those people seemed pretty okay.

Funny how you call them kids when I'm pretty sure you were close in age.

Some of them are younger than me.

But it's because it's just them. First group I've met without any adults.

It's complicated. There weren't any adults because all of the adults bailed on them years ago, so that's not great.

And... Not just anyone can step up and be a leader.

Especially not if people won't listen to them in the first place. You can't lead if people have other ideas of how things should be done. But...you need a leader in cases like that. Don't you?

... Now that they're my age, I think they can manage, but this shit started eight years ago. That was too young for kids to be on their own. Even I stuck with groups until I was like twelve.
