I've seen stuff like that before, I was just surprised. I definitely wasn't expecting it here—we're supposed to be working together, aren't we?

[absolutely 100%. but she's waving it off so all he can do is give her a half-grin.]

I thought so, too. But this seems like someone decided against that. [...] You and Claude are from the same place, right? He told me a little about Fodlan and your school, but you've really seen stuff like this before?

[claude did not mention exactly what kind of a school this was. just about the conflict going on.]

We're in the same class at school, yeah. [ she pushes a pair of sunglasses up the bridge of her nose. it looks a little ridiculous, but she seems distracted anyway. ] When we were out on field missions, sometimes we'd see some grisly stuff... But you kind of expect that in a battle, right? Not a place like this.

Usually, yeah. Most of the battles I've fought have been brutal but at least I knew what we were up against. With something like this...we couldn't have predicted it.

[but he lifts an eyebrow.] Do you guys go on field missions a lot?

[ oh, so he's seen his fair share of fights too. hilda sighs, fiddling with her frames. ]

Once a month or so. Too often, if you ask me. I really hate conflict...

That's a lot...[that's more than he thought? what the heck kind of school...] Are things really that bad where you guys are from?

I guess there's been more unrest lately...

[ with the church and stuff. ]

But there's always something bad happening, somewhere. I don't know that our world is anything special.

[reconnective]

Maybe not. [he'll agree because there are always worlds that're in trouble, but.] I think there's also different kinds of bad though.

I guess I'm trying to understand where everyone came from and why the Realm would pick us from there.

It is pretty weird that two people from our world are here.

[ if the universe is really that vast, what are the chances? ]

This Realm business is so mysterious... Someone pointed this out to me, but it was awfully prepared to react to someone dying.

You guys aren't the only ones either. Taako and Lup are both here from the same place, and so are Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. And probably some others.

[...he doesn't like that.] You think? Like it knew it was going to happen?

[ mysterious. their world doesn't stand out to her as anything extraordinary, though it's difficult to compare them all by any objective measure...

she's already boring herself thinking about it though. ]

This Realm thing sounds pretty all-powerful, so maybe it's nothing... That song was weird though, right?

...Sorry, you came here to cheer me up, and all I've done is talk about all this dull sad stuff. [ is he checking in on her? that's the vibe she gets. ]

Yeah. Someone else said it sounded like the first message we heard was from a totally different entity. I'm not sure if we should be worried about that yet, but it seems weird.

[he shakes his head though.] I don't mind. I like talking to you about whatever you want to talk about. [but there's a slight grin which says that yeah, he was absolutely checking in on her. it's fine.]
