It's complicated. But it's like we were just transported right from town to somewhere totally different that none of us had ever seen before. And we couldn't go back the way we came.

...I don't even know where to start. When we got there, we split up right away to follow two different trails. Half of our group followed a blood trail, and Alex and I followed this trail of, like, space goo. Once we split up we didn't see each other for a while.
I know, but we figured it was fine since we obviously needed to follow both. We didn't know we'd end up where we did.
We found a torso inside the elevator at the end of the hall, but we didn't have a keycard to use it. So we had to find our way through this human experimentation lab where they trapped our friends in these weird test tubes and unleashed a few monsters on us. Four of the test subjects were failures, but the fifth one escaped its confinement chamber to chase us down. By the time we got back to the elevator with the keycard, we ended up in this room with these huge windows floating above this city...there was an office, too, ahead of us. That's where I found the sword. But then another monster came after us and we had to fight.
...it gets a little fuzzy after that. He said some things that didn't make sense to me, but when I hit his sword with mine time froze for a bit. After that we ended up passing out on the helicopter landing pad outside as the meteor kept speeding up about to crash into us. When we woke up, we were inside those same kind of test tubes. But they weren't in the lab anymore. Instead, we were in the mansion Blanca and Shiro were in. They had to break us out and we had to get out because the mansion was starting to burn down. When we got to the exit of the house we ended up on the bridge back in this place.
[ this all sounds like something out of a dream? or a nightmare? zuko kind of just stares at sora for the whole explanation, trying to make sense of keycard and other modern terms he doesn't know. also, time-freezing swords? ]

Mm-mm. No, I think it just happened when I hit his sword in general. I blocked the first attack, but I didn't block the tentacle. [a gesture to the burn on his arm.] It was weird. Everything froze, but he was still able to talk to me just before Alex and I passed out.
Yeah. He said a few things before he attacked us. Like..."Do you believe you can change destiny? Time has already been written. There's nothing you can do, is there? Except try, try again. But you'll never make it."
And then when I did hit his sword, he said something like..."Not yet. But remember, this is your last chance."
Yeah, I'm starting to think so. [he frowns in thought then.] Isn't that why we're here? To change things. And time being written could mean our memories.
It's the "last chance" part that has me kinda stumped, too. Does that mean this has happened before?
Mm-mm. Not yet. I want to go talk to all of them a little later just to see what they say...they probably remember different parts better than others, so it'll help get a good idea.
