If it makes you feel better I just started learning. Guess it was a side gig? [is that right? either way, he gestures back to the kitchen with his head.] Come on. Taste-test this for me.
Absolutely. You wouldn't want to hurt my feelings, would you? [now he's just being a shit, but into the kitchen they go! which means he's putting down the cake and he's pulling out like a butter knife or something to cut a decent size to plate. the oven is still a little warm which is a sign he just shut it off not too long ago, and he's leaning around it to grab a fork before holding both items out to him.]
Besides, I'm not sure what the food situation was like over there anyway.
I did hear that much. I forget who told me, but it was nice to know where you guys actually were all this time and that you had someplace to go instead of...y'know. Floating in an abyss or something.
[not that he thought that before. no way. absolutely not. but he almost smirks at the response to the cake.]
I've had some practice. Plus I'm pretty sure the chef that taught me would be really, really mad if I couldn't do something like this by now. Glad you like it.
We were split pretty much in half right before you guys can back, but if you only had the northern area I can imagine it'd get hard not to step on everybody else. At least we could spread out.
It's more like we were doing a favor and helping out Donald's uncle with his bistro. Little Chef wanted to cook new things for us to test recipes, but he needed a couple of extra hands.
No, we had a house too. Not like the inn. It was kind of plain, aside from all the crayon drawings, and we all had our own rooms. But it's not so much the physical space that gets cramped.
Ah, learning on the job, then. Not bad. The chef must've had some good recipes if you're able to pull this together on short notice.
Crayon drawings? [what was even going on in the graveyard.]
Little Chef had to know enough to earn the bistro a five-star rating. I don't know how he thinks up half of this stuff. I've never even heard of most of it, but usually we just bring him ingredients and he creates something new on the spot.
Huh. Kano said you guys could see us but I was never sure how. But this place continues to be full of surprises so many I shouldn't actually be surprised.
[but he laughs at that.] I don't think he would've done so well here. I'd be a little worried about him and how people would react to him anyway. [i.e. yeah he would prefer not to have a dead rat on his hands.] But some of the others aren't so bad in a kitchen either.

We still had to eat, and we did have food. Hell, whatever you guys had in the Northern Area, so did we. Last week was roasting marshmallows.
[ he takes a bite of the cake, and-- ] Damn, that's pretty good. [ said with surprise, like he wasn't actually expecting it to be ]

Trained by a professional chef, huh? Didn't take you for some fancy culinary student. [ has another bite of the cake ]

Damn. I'd say he should've ended up here and kept us all fed, but then he might've been killed too.
