[on this fine saturday after their first night here, sora's out and about again with the vain hope that maybe something's changed. as he enters the emporium and starts checking out the items again, he spots someone familiar ahead.
well. may as well go say hi.]
Hi again. [he approaches with ease, giving her a bright smile.] Settling in okay?
[aquatic buddies...he would understand. as it is he keeps his hands folded behind his head as he nods.]
So far so good. The town's not as big as I thought it might be so it's a little easier to know where things are. [his interest piques at the moment she mentions locked buildings though.] Maybe whenever those other people show up they can unlock them for us. I want to know what's in that big one on the main road.
[sometimes you want to take a walk near the river by yourself to purge your memory of someone beheading a 13 year old boy. but sometimes things don't quite work out that way and you see a friend up ahead. sora isn't one to shy away from people he knows, so he quickens his pace until he's close enough to call out to her.]
[ Sometimes, you need space away from where a guillotine materialized and was forced to be used. Sometimes, you've seen enough death, but it still touches you because you can't close your heart completely.
Jeanne smiles at Sora in greeting, but it's a little faint. ]
I'm thinking about what the new week will bring. How are you, Sora?
[it's a question a few others have asked him, too, and it's one that he still doesn't quite have an answer for. things are hard on all of them. all of them had to watch the events of yesterday and today, but it's like what someone else said to him.
some people are more used to it than others.]
...I think I'm still figuring that out. [it's an honest answer, at least, even if it's not entirely a clear one.] A lot's happened lately. It almost feels like none of this is real.
[he's leaning against the planetarium probably which means when jeanne appears in his line of vision he blinks at her slowly like his head's trying to catch up.]
I can walk...I was just taking a break. [these are two conflicting sentences, but he does give her a grin.] Ground's not so bad anyway.
[ She doesn't miss how at odds the two things he just told her are. She smiles a little in response, but she isn't hiding how concern causes a crease between her brows. ]
The ground is not bad. I'll sit here a moment with you.
[ She takes a seat next to him. ]
To the extent that you're comfortable, will you tell me about what happened?
[back at the docking area, sora wanders in after most people have cleared out. he wasn't sure what he would find here, but when he spots jeanne lingering by he approaches and gives her a once-over.]
Can I join you? [he'll leave if she'd rather be alone, but also...concern.]
[ Jeanne doesn't mind being alone, but she's never one to refuse anyone if they seek her out. She has agreed to being tended to but not to the fire gun as of yet, but it's hard for her to stay away from what occurred today. ]
Of course, Sora. I'll always welcome your company.
[ She seems okay, if she weren't looking out at where Kano got yeeted into space with such a pensive expression. ]
Thank you. [normally he wouldn't even ask, but today was a little more than alarming for all of them. he'll walk closer then, reaching her side and giving her another once-over to check on her injuries before his gaze drifts to the airlock.]
...it's a lot, isn't it? Everything this place really expects of us. I'd hoped maybe things would be different today. [but somehow they were worse? like what the hell.]
[ Sora looking sadly at his boat is a very heartbreaking image. Jeanne approaches him from behind but doesn't encroach his emotional space bubble or his personal one.
She has enough respect for privacy, and she took note of his emotional distancing.
Perhaps it is the splash in the water that alerts him of her presence before she can say anything, as a dolphin's dorsal fin pops out of the water.
There is always a dolphin in any of my pcs that take place here. I don't make the rules. ]
[he appreciates the privacy, to say the least, especially given the part where he's still trying to figure things out. but the dolphin's a surprise and he perks up almost immediately.
somehow, surprisingly (?) he does not hear jeanne yet.]
Where did you come from...? [yes he's talking to the dolphin that can't hear him.]
[by the time he returns to the main part of the town, sora's frustrated and ready to kick something over. there's no sumire, two people died, and he has zero answers as usual.
something in his expression seems to lighten up slightly upon seeing jeanne though. he had thought about finding her the day before, but everything happened so much and now...well. this is a good opportunity.]
...it almost feels familiar now, huh? [it sucks, but. here they are.]
[it's probably a little later in the day when sora comes across jeanne, his halloween outfit the chosen clothing for today. wherever she is, he'll approach her with ease and fold his arms behind his head, stopping at her side. there isn't a bubble in their immediate area just yet because that would be awkward.]
I'm not sure what kind of memory this is, but it's interesting isn't it?
[after the hustle and bustle has died down, sora returns to where jeanne's being held. normally he brings prisoners food, but a.) the scent would absolutely make him gag and b.) he doesn't think anyone can stomach food right now.
instead, he comes with a cup of peppermint tea and some extra leaves and also a stuffed tiger. both are set next to him as he sits on the floor, pulling his knees to his chest and letting his chin rest on them.]
...when I leave, one of the leaders can probably give you these since the barrier's up. I read that peppermint helps with the sick feeling.
W0, SATURDAY

Hello again! [ She returns his smile with her own bright one. ] Yes, I am getting more of a feel for this place. Are you?
[ Even if she doesn't necessarily want to settle in to stay here for a long time, it's better to adapt. ]
I was hoping a new day would unlock another building, but....

W0, FRIDAY
[ He's in the forest looking for a squirrel, you said. Jeanne is seeking him out, so she runs towards him. ]

Jeanne! [he'll even meet her halfway. he also assumes by now that she's heard of what's going on.] This...how could something like this happen?
no subject
[ There's no mistaking her concern or her worry, but otherwise, most of her emotions are in check. ]
I'm trying to see if there any more clues that can tell us how. But first, are you all right?
