[judging by the fact that he immediately looks guilty and gives off a nervous laugh, he knows precisely what alphinaud's referencing here, but he still reaches up to rub the back of his neck.]
Me? Yeah, I'm fine. Nooo trouble here. [..eheh. heh. man.] Um...what did you hear though?
[ He should be happy that Sora is well enough to laugh it off, but Alphinaud's mouth still purses into a flat line. ]
An encounter with... something on the moon?
[ That... still feels so weird to say. ]
I had found Izumo a nigh bloodied mess! Enough bells have passed for you to recover, 'twould seem– [ Enough to make his way around, at least. ] –yet I still worried for how you fared, as well.
[alphinaud mentions izumo and for a brief moment sora looks relieved. at least she found someone to take care of her. that's important. but then as he listens he finds himself realizing that it's likely she told him exactly what happened. it's for that reason he settles on a nod and drops the act.]
Well...it could've gone better. I know we shouldn't have gone past the sign, but Izumo and I had to know what was out there. Did she tell you about the voices we heard?
...let's have a seat. [instead of standing near the stairs. he'll turn and head further into the lobby, having a seat on one of the sofas and inviting alphinaud to do the same. he leans forward a bit with his elbows on his knees, propping himself up to continue speaking.]
The voices turned into screams the further we went, but when it started they were just talking. We couldn't understand anything they said, but as we kept going they got louder and louder until they were screaming right in our heads. I think those sounds followed us here, too, even though they went quiet when we backed off.
[ Alphinaud follows, and ends up taking a seat across from him, posture straight, not as casual. And he listens, a slight frown on his face. ]
That explains it; how truly horrific. I could not begin to imagine what could be the source... Twelve forefend, what if others make their way through to where you two had gone, as well?
Oh, I already took care of it. I put a couple of signs on the moon rovers and the shuttles warning everybody. [he is Prepared.] I had that thought, too. Izumo and I went in totally unprepared, and I don't want that to happen to anybody else. Especially if that monster decides to leave the canyon.
You will have to forgive me for speaking plain, but I have my doubts on whether that will be an effective means to deterring any further curious travelers.
I mean, I wrote that there's a space monster out there. You'd think that would stop most people from going further. [...it is debatable if it would have stopped him, but that's neither here nor there.]
...I do, too. [nobody else should end up partially deaf and traumatized, thanks.] Have you heard about why this place is connected to the town now? Swan told me when I asked them earlier.
When I asked, Swan said it's the Realm bringing us to places where the nova's been disturbed. So they're like a memory of the place itself. And that's why there aren't any other people or anything.
... Aye, I do believe that makes sense. I suppose that does explain how that station suddenly appeared overnight, as well, and is accessible simply by crossing a bridge.
Yeah. I want to ask some of the other leaders their thoughts on it, too. Mostly because it still doesn't explain why a monster was there at all if it's supposedly just a memory. I guess, in a way, it was a good thing Izumo and I went.
Maybe. If these places really don't have other people but have monsters lurking around it might be part of the problem. And even if it's not the cause it probably doesn't help.
Hardly. Regardless of their reason for being there, there's the matter of dealing with them. I can only speak for myself, but I confess I've lost the one means I have for contending with a monster of any kind.
Hey, it's not for everybody. Our magician usually uses a staff instead. [so this does not surprise him, but also, sorry for comparing alphinaud to donald duck.]
All of my powers are gone, too. [this isn't relevant, really, but he's interested.] What's your magic like?
no subject
[he can't exactly imagine why, but he doesn't mind.]

[ He looks Sora up and down. ]
Though you... appear to be hale and whole, to which I am full glad for. I had heard you were caught in some trouble earlier.

Only screams; that was all.

I am a practitioner of arcanima, but I've yet to come across another here who is familiar with it. Unless you are?
