Yup! [there's even a widdle crown stamped on the side of his hat that pretty much matches his necklace.] Sometimes when we travel to new worlds, our appearances change to blend in better. A lot of the pirates we've met had hats.
[i hope alex is enjoying the absolute pure !!! energy from him right now.]
Automatically? That would've been helpful here... but I guess with all the tailor shops and lockers with stuff cropping up we're sort of getting that experience now.
At least with the shops and stuff we get to pick what we look like. We didn't always know how we'd look until we actually landed on the new world. But I kind of like that people can have a few choices.
Nope. It was just the way things were, but it wasn't always so bad. [that's a lie, some of them were weird and there's a little flutter of something confusing there. oh well. he tilts his head though.]
Wanna go take a look together? I haven't really seen what's at the shop yet.
Very specific, Alex. [he settles for a light kind of pout.] But okay. I'll help you find your really big hat and we'll see what else we can take. It's kind of nice we get to keep stuff even when the gateway brings us somewhere new, isn't it?
Oh, it's probably still there. But the bridge took us to another memory. One of the leaders told me it's like a gateway. So this place will be left behind, too. It doesn't disappear but it's just that we lose access to it.
Have you asked your leader what it might be for? My sword's just a sword, but yours looks like it's missing something. [the bracelet has a slot for a jewel and now he wants to know what the heck it was.]
...what if it used to be, like, a shield or something? We have bracelets like that where I'm from that help us in battle. They don't make real shields or anything but they help us be a little stronger.

[ she almost boops his hat but stops herself at the last minute. stupid no touchy rules. ]
The hat thing seems to be pretty important to the whole pirate get up.

did he not enjoy being a furry boy in lion king and slightly-monsters-inc? ]
Yes!
[ ... ]
I need to find a really big hat, anyway.
no subject
A really big hat. For what? [but he'll get up and begin to walk, waiting for alex to join him so they can head to the tailor's shop.]

...
[ said completely and utterly seriously: ]
Reasons.

[ but she brightens up at that. ]
Good!
And, oh. We do? I didn't really take anything out of the space station last week so I wasn't sure.
no subject
Um...I think so! [he is now realizing that is possibly not true but.] Where else would they go, you know?
[...now he's just thinking about this and his brain is just the math lady meme.]

[ i hope they're ready for an existential crisis now because-- ]
But where did the entire space station go then...?

There was a picture with the bracelet. I took it with me... it was like a kid's crayon drawing?
no subject
I don't remember a drawing. [but there was so much happening it's not like he thinks much of it.] What'd it look like?
